Who it’s for

You don’t need to be fit. You need to turn up.

  • Never thrown a punchMost of our members are beginners. You’ll be taught properly from your very first class, and nobody expects you to know anything on day one.
  • Want to feel safeLearn the basics of self-defence from experienced coaches, in a gym where grandmothers, uni students and mums with kids all train together and look out for each other.
  • Want to get fit and feel goodBoxing and Muay Thai are a proper workout, and you’ll be too busy learning a skill to notice how hard you’re working.
  • Want to train seriouslyOur coaches include former world, national and state champions. If you want to get properly good, or compete one day, you’re in the right building.

Kids, teens, parents and grandparents all train here. Our teens class is one of the biggest in the gym, and parents are welcome to watch or train alongside.

Why a challenge?

Twenty-eight days. Turn up.

The challenge isn’t the training. The challenge is turning up. Four weeks, as many classes as you like, and a promise to yourself that you’ll see it through.

We’re all spending more time on our phones and less in a room with real people. A boxing gym fixes that. You sweat, you learn something hard, and you do it next to people who’ll notice if you don’t show up on Thursday.

What you’ll work on
  • Boxing and Muay Thai fundamentals, with a coach in your corner
  • Fitness built through regular coached training
  • The basics of looking after yourself
  • Training mates who’ll want you back next week
Your coaches

A gym where champions hold pads for beginners, and nobody cares what you look like as long as you’re willing to learn.

Twenty-eight days is long enough to learn the basics properly, feel a real change in your fitness, and find out whether this is your place. We think it will be.

Why people stay

A welcoming place to start

Ask our members why they’ve stayed five, eight, ten years and you hear the same things.

The people

All ages, all backgrounds, all levels, training in the same room. People bring their kids, their partners, their mates. Some have been here since they were at school.

The coaching

Every beginner gets a proper introduction and a coach in their corner. Nobody gets left on a bag. Everyone gets looked after.

A clean, well-kept gym

Modern facilities and a gym that’s spotless. We take cleaning as seriously as coaching, and you’ll notice it the second you walk in.

Questions

Things people ask before they start

Do I pay before I’ve tried it?

No. Register, come in for your first session, meet the coaches and see the place. If you love it, you pay the $150 then and your 28 days begin.

I’ve never done anything like this. Will I be out of my depth?

No. Most of our members are beginners. Classes are coached so that a first-timer and an experienced member can train side by side, and your two private sessions are there to get your basics right early.

Do I need to be fit to start?

You need to turn up. Fitness is what happens over the 28 days, not what you need beforehand. You’ll work at your own pace and the coaches will help you find the right level.

Is there a lock-in or contract?

None. The challenge is 28 days for $150 and that’s it. If you’d like to keep going, you’ll be offered a membership before the end, and you can take it or leave it.

What do I bring?

Comfortable training clothes, a water bottle and a towel. Gym gloves are provided for your first session.

When do I get my gloves?

When you decide to take on the challenge and pay the $150, you’re fitted for your own pair of 16oz leather gloves and they’re yours to keep.

How do the two PT sessions work?

Two 30-minute one-on-one sessions with one of our coaches, booked with the team at times that suit you, any time during your 28 days.

When can I start?

Now. Register today and you can be training this week. Beginner-friendly classes run at 5:30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and your first session can be one of those or a one-on-one with a coach.

Can my kids do it?

Yes. Our teens class is one of the busiest in the gym and a great place for young people to build confidence and discipline, and younger kids train in Little Strikers. Register and we’ll talk you through the best fit.

Where are you and where do I park?

Unit 1, 5–13 Sinnott Street, Burwood, with parking on site and on the street. We’re open 6am to 8pm weekdays, 8am to 1pm Saturday and 9am to 1pm Sunday.

A note from Mark

I opened Strike Fit in 2008 because I wanted a gym where people get coached properly and looked after, not treated like a membership number. We’ve built a community here that I’m proud of: all ages, all backgrounds, real coaches who care whether your guard is up. If you’re willing to turn up, we’ll look after you.
